How to Play!
HP: Each combatant starts out with a number (1,000) of “hit points” or HP for short. The Scoreboard will post every so often with everyone's HP, but feel free to type it yourself to keep track.
Attack Button: When you wish to make an attack post, you can only use the Quick Reply section since the Attack Button does not show up on the regular reply screen. You must make sure when you are ready to post that it is just how you want it, including fixing spelling and grammar mistakes and format because once you hit the attack button there is no going back.
You cannot edit your attack post or delete it to fix an error or to get a better outcome. This is considered cheating. If there is something you would like to edit, please contact Admin Kay or the Scoreboard .
Damage: The attack button will add a Damage Dealt number to the end of your post indicating how much damage your attack has inflicted. Please be sure to leave your attacks open-ended so your opponent may reply accordingly. The higher the attack the heavier the damage can be, and it ranges between 10hp to 80hp. A mere scratch to a smoldering crater. The next in line to post will need to subtract that damage from their current Hp such as...
Damage Dealt: 79
Your Hp has now dropped 79 points. Once a player's HP hits zero your character will lose conciseness. When only a small amount of damage is done, you can say that your character blocked most of it but not all. If your opponent misses, you can either say you blocked it or dodged.
Attacking is not mandatory and you can choose to post without hitting the Attack Button. Above all this game is not so much the competition but for fun. The Arena battles can be used as canon in-game or noncanonically strictly for fun. As a rule, the matches should be balanced, matching the opponent's power for power. But if you wish to match up two that are completely different the odds of the underdog winning is always a factor to consider.
When you wish to fight a Team Battle each player starts off with 1000 HP. The battle will keep going until every member of an opposing team is out.
A Battle Royale can take place if there more than two players and it ends with one player standing.
To start a match simply write your entry post and tag the people/person you would like to battle with. All official training and tournament matches are begun by the Scoreboard . In cases of team battles, each character has seven days to write his or her entry post before the battle begins without them (of course, they are still welcome after this, but their team may have taken hits without them there to help). Every battle on the forum begins once all members are present or the seven-day limit is up. You must write a separate entry post before you can write an attack post.
In team battles, you can do either a direct attack (on one other player) or a widespread, which is where your character attacks all but themselves. However, you can only do one free widespread attack per 10 pages, as these do a lot of damage and should not be used in excess. If you wish to do an additional widespread, it will subtract from your health half of the damage dealt. For example, if you use a Widespread and get 80, it will subtract 40 HP from your own HP. If you get 10, it will subtract 5. The only exception to this is if you have a Free Widespread item. (More on items at the end of this post!) If you get an odd number, the Scoreboard will round to the nearest whole number. For example, if you get an 11, your character will lose 6 HP.
In a team battle, there is an option to transfer some of your energy to one of your teammates. For example, if your health is at 100 and your teammate's is at 10, and you give them 50, your energy would be 50 while theirs would be 60. You can give them any amount of your remaining health. This can only be done once per battle and you will lose a turn.
If you post under the wrong account by accident, you can delete the post and do it again under the right account, but you are not permitted to use the Attack button again. Just do a non-attack post and type in the number you originally got.
Amendment as of 3/18/2021: Items are now available! So far, there is no limit as to how often you can use your items, as long as you don't use more than one item per post. This is subject to change so make sure you look at these rules frequently! This does not stop you, of course, from self-imposed limits. If you want to limit yourself to using your items every 10 or 20 or 50 posts, that's up to you! More on items in this post.
Amendment as of 3/26/2021: If a player is in a battle royale and use a non-free Widespread attack that causes their HP to go to zero, they will be given the win as long as there are no other players standing. So, for example, if your health is at 10 and you do a non-free Widespread of 80, and it knocks out all your remaining teammates, you will still be ruled the winner. Just make sure you stay on your feet long enough for the 10-count!
Amendment as of 4/3/2021: Players in battles now start with 1,000 HP instead of the old 700. All currently-ongoing battles will remain at 700, as will future Makai Tournament X battles. Any other battles started today or later will start with every fighter having 1,000 HP.
